New Baby Support Services:

I offer support and assistance to families before and after the birth of their child or children.  I recognize that no parents’ challenges are identical, so the program is designed to be personal and flexible.  I provide clients with the option of appointments in the comfort of their homes or at my office located in West LA.   While I will tailor our sessions to meet the specific needs of your family, some of the most typical services include:

Coaching and support for parents after birth:

  • Concrete assistance with feeding challenges, improving sleep patterns and soothing fussy babies
  • Recognizing infant cues to limit overstimulation and improve attachment
  • Support and assistance for managing challenging behaviors, such as colic
  • Identifying developmental milestones
  • Addressing sibling rivalry and resulting behavioral challenges
  • Practical tips such as the implementation of schedules and balancing home and work time demands
  • Support for parents dealing with relationship challenges, sleep deprivation and significant life changes
  • Teaching parents how to better support one another and allow for personal needs to be addressed
  • Managing sensitive outside relationships, including parents, in-laws, siblings, friends, nannies and co-workers
  • Help with self-care and making use of support services to be most present for your family

Individual and couples psychotherapy:

  • Postpartum depression
  • Postpartum anxiety
  • Difficulty adjusting to parenthood

Testimonials

"I met Laurie shortly after the birth of her twin daughters in 2008.  I have had the pleasure of knowing and supporting her as she strives for balance in her own parenting, marriage and career.  She does so with honesty and grace, while keeping a terrific sense of humor!  She is an amazing parent/couples coach because she knows what it takes, and she does it all with a great deal of heart, knowledge and experience."

-Donna Holloran, owner, Babygroup

"We contacted Laurie for help and advice when our son was 8 weeks old.  Up until then, he did not have a regular sleep pattern or daily routine.  Most nights he was going to sleep at our bedtime, which was around midnight-definitely too late for a baby!  Laurie helped us get our son on a sleep schedule with an earlier bedtime.  Our son now takes regular naps and bedtime is calmer and happier for all of us.  Laurie's help and support made all the difference.  Thanks Laurie!"

-Gail and Ryan, West LA

"I have known Ms. Kinigstein in both her career as a clinical child social worker, as well as a mother of twins.  In both of these areas she has always displayed intelligence, wonderful skills in organization and a great deal of knowledge in child development.  All of these skills serve her well in her work assisting families in child rearing."
